Some of the goals in the physical design of the community were

Homes

It should be emphasized: When you move into cohousing, you are choosing a neighborhood, not just a house! Nonetheless, one way cohousing differs from many other types of intentional community is in having private homes.

Wasatch Commons has twenty-six units. Units range in size from one to four bedrooms and _ to _ square feet. Most units are two-and-a-half-storey townhouses, forming duplexes, a triplex, and fourplexes.

Our Neighborhood: Wasatch Commons

The units are clustered on either side of a snaking walkway that we call the central path. Parking is on the perimeter, one lot at either end of the walkway. Extensive shared facilities include a community center (the "common house"), a workshop, play areas, and community gardens and orchard.

The Greater Neighborhood

Wasatch Commons is in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City. An elementary school and a junior high school are in walking distance. We are near public transit and an interstate interchange.

Affordability

Five income-qualified rent-to-own units were part of the Utah Housing Agency's Credit To Own (CROWN) program. These units became available for purchase by their tenants after fifteen years (in 2013).
